A little less information in the report than I expected, to be honest. But it goes a long way to answering the question as to why / how this happened.
I've never flown an airliner, so maybe there was something in the crew's insistance on maintaining a nose-up attitude that makes sense to those who have done, but from my flying experience that's tantamount to suicide when you're in a stall environment, with stall warnings sounding. They acknowledged that they were in alternate law, so why didn't they configure accordingly?
Very sad to read, but also appears to me to be quite a disturbing mistake from experienced proffessional pilots.
