Which is what was supposed to happen - the critical failure is that they didn't remove the tape afterwards
The Perpignan airbus crashed because they
didn't tape stuff up (AoA sensors in that case) when the airframe was washed [although it shouldn't have been fatal if the flight tests had been done properly]
