FAA Soda and intensive ppl

hi all
i have monocular vision and have managed to get a FAA Class 1 with a SODA. i need to go a medical flight test (MFT)
im planning to do a intensive ppl to start with, maybe with EFT. my big concern is how exactly do i book a MFT. is this done pre solo, or during my flight test. i keep getting conflicting answers. some people say you have to book it 3 months early?
