Didn't work too well in QF72's case, where one dud ADIRU brought the whole show to it's knees and completely out of the control of the pilots for some time..

AFAIK this is untrue. The last report I have seen they have not be able to duplicate the anomalies. They do not know if the ADIRU was a dud, if there was some outside interference, or what.
