You and other posters may well be right on this. Nevertheless, for the record, I recall that many months ago, when we were discussing the way the V/S separated from the fuselage, taking into account that it departed with a slight twist to port
BEA stated in their preliminary accident report:
The distortions of the frames showed that they broke during a forward motion with a slight twisting component towards the left.
Question, does anyone know for sure what type of twisting component they were talking about? Was the top of the tail twisted toward the port side of the aircraft, or was the leading edge slightly more displaced to the port side than the trailing edge as the VS separated?
