northwest 757-300

well, seems like nwa are not too happy with the 757-300's....but they just took delivery of their third one last friday. should be in service by now. whereas the 757-200 is a real greyhound, the -300 is a real dog. nwa is only customer for p&w powered -300s....and guess what folks, there may well be a very good reason for that. its underpowered. can't reach much more than fl330 on initial climb, whereas -200s will go straight to 370. sounds much like the situation when nwa bought dc10-40's with p&w engines for commonality with the 747-100's in the 1970s.....result, compromised performance. when you buy an aircraft from mr boeing, you buy a performance package that you negotiate with the manufacturer...and this is another instance of getting what you were willing to pay for.
