Perhaps the key issue is that you have no business being there in the first place.
If that's aimed at the United States, I'm sure many Americans would prefer to have no dealings with the rest of the world. The problem is that, historically, the rest of the world won't leave them alone (WW1, WW2), so - in the real world - better to get involved at an early stage and deal effectively with the problems at a distance.
