IIRC the Queen did not fly in helicopters bacause ot was regarded by her minders that it was too dangerous. A Queen's Flight Whirwind spearing in did not help. Heirs to the Throne were OK as long as there was a backup. The habit was broken when she went to Northern Ireland in the seventies where a helicopter was the only secure form of transport.
