I took one of the first flights into Auckland. We operated a 762 Cairns to Auckland. On the return we flew Auckland Singapore. All the flights operated via the Middle East. We used Bahrein initially then Sharjah and latterly Abu Dhabi. Far East stop was either Singapore or Batam.
During the first Gulf War flights were diverted via Mombassa.
