The push to do training (particularly initial training) in the simulator was a result of a series of airline jet crashes during training exercises in the 1960's. The industry decided that some maneuvers were simply too dangerous to do for real in an actual aircraft. Anybody who does a V1 engine cut in an actual aircraft for instance, is IMO crazy. Even if you could find somebody to do the training in the aircraft, I would be very surprised if the company insuring the aircraft would let you.......
