The scheme to which you refer at bmi has now been closed as the last pilots go through their line training. It was a contract between bmi and an external company.
I've heard BMI virtually never keep any of them on, as there is always a steady stream of willing candidates
It was never intended that the students would be recruited to bmi and that was made very clear from the start; all they got was a type rating and the line training which is what they paid for. bmi Mainline still has demoted Captains to promote after an earlier contraction and is unlikely to be recruiting in the near future.
