You get a lot more simulator work on the type you will be flying online. As far as I am aware, HK CAD have set the highest bar for any MPL program in the world, their requirement is over 320 hours of training (both in an aircraft and simulator), the ICAO minimum is 220 hours, 70 hours in aircraft.
This is a lot more training than cadets were getting previously, and the MPL program is geared towards multi crew airline flying in a jet flying IFR, where the CPL route is a VFR general aviation single pilot qualification.
