Question Jet2

I know it's been suggested once or twice on this thread before, but since we're hoping that Balfours relationship with BE at Exeter will help attract them into LDY, couldn't their relationship with Jet2 at Blackpool just as equally attract them as well.

The reasons I think this, is currently Blackpool is experiencing lower passenger numbers than LDY and according to Wikipedia as a similar runway length, and despite failing to support domestic routes like London etc. (The seasonal BFS being the exception) They managed to have attract a based Jet2 aircraft, flying to destinations such as Malaga, Majorca, TFS to name a few whilst also having bases all over northern England.

Could they not come into LDY and offer destinations currently in their portfolio such as: Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Ibiza, Reus and even a French or Italian route such as Milan.

Yes it would be a gamble, but if they can make it work at Blackpool, they can make it work at Derry. With 3 aircraft currently on order (again, according to Wikipedia) surely they could open a new base.

Or would pressure from FR on Jet2 and LDY prevent this from happening, or the fact that it could be detrimental to their BFS operation. What do yous think?

Edit - Just check flights from Blackpool and Derry to Faro on the same dates in July. Credit card fee's etc all in the final price would be just under £100 cheaper per person with Jet2 than Ryanair. Ryanairs final price for the flight being £242 whilst Jet2 were charging £146. Just thought this would be of interest for comparison. Jet2 might be able to give FR a run for their money!
