Can someone explain to me what taking out Libyan Army armoured vehicles with smart bombs (as I've seen RAF Tornadoes doing on TV) has to do with a no-fly zone?
(yawn) UNSCR 1973 authorises all necessary measures to protect civilians from attack; this includes destroying tanks where they are thought to be threatening populated areas. I thought that was pretty clear from a week's worth of news reports and posts on here?
All that has been ruled out is a ground occupation; even a short-term ground intervention is arguably within the scope of 1973 (that does not mean I think it would be a good idea!)
