Embraer and Alitalia finalized an agreement for 15 E-175s and five E-190s through a lease structure to be arranged by third parties, the companies announced on Monday. The agreement follows an MOU between Embraer and the Italian carrier at the end of 2010. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter.
The 88-seat E-175s and 100-seat E-190s will be configured in a single-class layout and will be used on AZ’s domestic and European network. They will be based at the seven Italian airports from which AZ operates: Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Turin, Venice, Naples and Catania. The 20 aircraft will progressively replace AZ’s existing fleet of 16 regional aircraft comprising 10 CRJ-900s and six E-170s.
