Just guessing:
BA has brought some 744 airframes back from the desert, so extra pilots needed on the Fleet?
Change at the top of the 744 seniority list - it's generally a more senior/older fleet than the 777, maybe some of the very senior 744 pilots are going part time or even leaving, more so than on the 777?
