The problem is that the training department is getting maxed out.

I understand that the company has satisfied all internal bids for the P2 on the 744. They have even let some guys move before their engagement freeze has expired (i.e. within 5 yrs of joining). The next phase would be to let some move before their equipment freeze has expired (i.e 4yrs on type). Company does not want to do that as that would mean 2 lots of training (one course on the 744 and another on the A320 for their replacement). By going directly for those with a type rating they only have to do the one 744 course
