The apartments for unmarried FO's are fine.
Generally, they're new(ish), big and in relatively good locations.
Before moving to a villa, I was in the TECOM development by the Marina end of town... it's modern, big and has 2 nice pools and gyms.
Lots of guys recently put up in Manazel (Barsha) and Manazel (Safa) both of which are nice.
Are you sure you heard correctly about AL FATTAN...? This is a beach front skyscraper development at JBR. IT IS NOT an Emirates Crew Building...!!!
Maybe they meant to say 'Al Faltat' in Bur Dubai... this is mainly cabin crew, but the apartments are dark and enclosed and not in the best area. However they are huge if that's what you want.
By UK standards the apartments in EK are big and modern. The building quality (of the new places anyway) can be a little questionable, but most leaks and deficiencies can be fixed within a day or two).
