As I said the allowance should not be considered since most of the pilots are in company accommodation anyway.
How is that relevant? - you either take the allowance in cold hard cash or the company accommodation, whatever route you take has to be taken into account as part of the overall package.
Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways, Iberia, etc. etc. do not pay either utilities allowance or provide housing - all those costs come out of your flat salary, so you need to compare like with like.
And if you have a long term plan is the only option.
Surely the 'long term plan' would be to take the allowance and let the company buy you an apartment?
