I've always preferred multiple plug-ins...

Scimitar trying to plug into A-3 Skywarrior plugged into A-4 Skyhawk plugged into Sea Vixen... observed by voyeuristic F-8 Crusader:

F-100, F-101, & RB-66 plugged into KB-50 at the same time:
