For those of us who like to cruise above FL050 Sandtoft might as well be on the east coast, the great thing is that you can travel high and clear of all the class A airspace to take advantage of any wind that might be in your favour.
A few years back I was asked to bring a PA28-161 from Glasgow to Booker, the plan was to fuel at Sandtoft if required. On the day the 1H 20Min that it took the B757 to get up north was a clue that a stop was not required.
It was a clear winters day and we climbed to FL95 to take advantage of the strong tail wind, the total flight time was 2H 11Min !
