josh7, before looking at Australia, you need to be able to emigrate. ie get work visas and the like.
Converting your licence is comparatively easy (compared to going the other way.)

With respect to a job. Well, unlike the UK, you can (almost) forget starting on a turbine, let alone a jet. (Of course there are exceptions).
You'll either instruct or you'll be heading North/West to fly scenics or work on a station.
