CTC’s reasons for having the ATP pool open are very different now from the good years gone by. It is the same reason that CTC Takeoff has suddenly come about. The Takeoff training is used to fill the lack of demand for IR training at Bournemouth due to wings courses not being filled during the recession. The same is true for ATP cadets and the AQC courses. CTC don’t make money with simulators and aircraft sitting idle which is why the scheme is still open.
It is hard to see now how any ATP cadets can be placed when CTC have experienced the highest short term demand they have ever seen and still only placed 100 cadets. This demand is unlikely to continue in the hiring up to 2012 and the wings pool is still being filled. If CTC were confident of demand they would have not changed their terms and continue to rank ATP cadets among wings cadets. The prospects don’t look great do they?
