Bloody amazing isn't it, the home of capitalism (the US) does not rip people off for parking at their airports. Once again Australian apathy allows these thieves to get away with it. Why?
In the US airports are usually owned by the local municipality and are built to serve a need. They also bring in employment to the area. However there is also alot of competition for airports and most major cities have two major airports. Southwest has built a whole airline on flying to secondary airports in the US, something that would be impossible in Australia because there are none. NSW has two major airports in it for the entire state. Now given that no government has the will to build another airport anywhere near Sydney, for a whole host of reasons, Mac Bank can charge what they want as they know there will never be any competition.

The moves by the Greens to try and shutdown airports only really ends up helping Mac Bank types and encouraging people to use the most fuel inefficient form of transport the motor car.
