I'm not really looking to spend more than £400 per month, although from what I've seen so far, I may not have much choice.
What kind of "equipment" do you get in your hotel? Is it a guest house or B&B type thing, I can't imagine your staying in the Hilton for £105.
It's clearly a weight up between more expensive accomodation near the airport with zero commuting costs, or less on rent and more on petrol.
