I admit I'm baffled.

The reason that Bayes Theorem implies a different course of action for software designers as opposed to pilots is because the factual situation changes. Software designs have the luxury of rebuilding the system; pilots don't.

I agreed with your slight redefinition of my original comment because I thought we were tying to say the same thing only using slightly different words. Now I wonder if you are just being argumentative.
