The last 8 days has seen EI leasing aircraft and crew from other airlines to support there shorthaul operation at DUB and ORK. Over the 8 days we have seen EI lease
737-800's from FR
A321's from ZB
A 737-300 and a 757 from ZT
A 737-300 from 5O (Europe Airpost)
Yesterday a total of 47 flights were operated by the 10 aircraft that EI have leased from other carriers. The 10 aircraft were made up of 6 738's from FR (EI-DCJ, DPN, DYD, DYH, DWJ & EKT), 3 A321's from ZB (G-OZBL, M & U) and a 757 from ZT.
Leasing these aircraft must be costing EI a packet. January is usually a very quiet month for airlines. Surely it would have made more sense for EI to cancel services rather than leasing such a large number of aircraft from other carriers.
