The moral of the story being:
No long term money in flying to Honiara or Norfolk. By the sounds of it, that's the case even if you run the Coles Express. Still, every two years or so (it's a weary, ever-repeating cycle) someone decides to launch a jet based airline to/from Honiara and everyone gets Very Excited, particularly if there are a couple of other marketable destinations thrown in

There's no money in the Windorah/Birdsville/Bedourie/Thank-God-we-got-to-the-Isa epic either, which is why the route is government subsidised, otherwise the whole thing would be back to camel trains. Of course, you have to be able to feed the camels
. Didn't the Norfolk government subsidise their flights? Even with that, is it still an unviable route?
