VJW,
No, Linda is not an examiner, but I am. Linda is my boss, managing director of a school which trains for CPL and IR courses, and I generally consider her knowledge of the rules and regulations to be superior to mine. On this occasion, in my opinion, she's correct.
Please refer to LASORS F3.2 (Requirements for the addition of an MEP(Land) Class Rating):
Each applicable item of the skill test shall be satisfactorily completed within the 6 months immediately preceding the date of receipt of the application for the rating
That seems very clear - the rating must be applied for within 6 months of the date of the test.
Is there a difference when the MEP test is combined with a CPL test? No. Refer to LASORS D1.2 (JAR-FCL CPL(A) Skill Test Requirements):
For the purpose of licence issue the skill test will remain valid for 12 months.
This is, again, very clear - the 12 month validity is for
licence issue,
not rating issue.
If you feel that this is wrong, then please quote the relevant material which explains why it is wrong.
