"US Navy explores contractor-operated Global Discovery MPA plan
The US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has revealed a previously undisclosed plan, under the moniker of the Global Discovery Maritime Patrol Aircraft (GD MPA), to contract for a contractor-operated MPA service to support counter-narcotic operations. According to a request for information (RfI) issued by NAVAIR on 16 April 2010, the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), in support of the Counter Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office, has a requirement for two contractor-owned/contractor-operated manned aircraft with an eight-hour mission endurance"
