Just heard on BBC Radio Foyle that they got a statement from Ryanair saying the Alicante filght is coming back in the summer.
That would be great news if it is true. LDY cannot afford to lose routes that it has landed (Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, etc).
We'll have to see if Ryanair follow through on this statement. They had gone to quite a bit of trouble to remove the route. They didn't only not load a schedule into their database, they reprogrammed their route map. The route map is a silverlight program that needs programed specifically to display each route, it doesn't work automatically from flights loaded into their database. Now they will have to reprogram the map to redisplay the LDY-ALC route if true.
This gives me some hope (that had turned to despair following the axing of the route) that there could even be further routes announced in the future.
