Flight manual for NG states not to use rudder, except for crosswinds, engine failure, and trim. So does yaw damper automatically apply required rudder for coordination?
Those were the implicit instructions for jet transports from the 707 and DC-8 days.

But, it seems it took the AAL Airbus crash at JFK in Nov, 2001, to bring it to the fore.
