Don't know why the logos would be covered, but I expect it was still on the canadian register if Bombardier are doing the ferry flights - which wouldn't be surprising as the last I heard Arik were very short of Q400 crews and probably can't spare them. Keeping it on the Canadian Register probably makes it easier for them to get overflight permissions where needed and they don't need Nigerian licence validations for the crew.
Dubai seems a little off track for a delivery from Toronto to Lagos though - first deliveries were originally planned via Europe and down the west coast of Africa although don't know if it happened like that in the end.
