Sark - why on earth would someone not consider using their local airport at any cost?!
I live in Poole and use BOH for convenience whenever possible as on several occasions (when carrying hand luggage only), I've been opening my front door barely 30 mins after the wheels have touched down.
Surely you choose an airport based on route availability then convenience and cost in whichever order is most important to you.
