An interesting article - one point though on the JSF fleet - as I understood it, the JSF fleet was going to stand up incrementally through the 2020s, and wasnt due in till about 2018 anyway - so while what the author is saying is accurate, its also not looking beyond 2020.
I think 2020 will be the RAFs nadir, but equally with an almost certain number of more JSF squadrons after this point, a future force of 8 Sqns is more likely.
A final question and one that I don't know the answer to - we see headline comparisons in terms of squadron numbers, e.g,. 33 in 1990, but at the same time, what is availability like then - roughly how many jets could deploy then, versus current arrangements?
