Football is a global sport and also a business. It's good that Russia and Qatar got the rights to host the tournament. Because they have the $$$ to build the required infra-structure. It's a coup for the Mid East, obviously Dubai might benefit more from it than anybody else in the region for obvious reasons. (ie they are ahead of the game as far as tourism is concerned). I think Sepp Blatter has got it spot on by having the WC shared equally amongst all continents. Even if it took some arm twisting to sway the vote. And in the money driven enviroment we live in now,

The argument that the ME is driven by "slave labour" is true to a certain extent, and cannot be ignored. Also needs to be addressed viz-a-viz the poor workers who will make the WC a success. But how easily people forget that most developed countries Aussies, Brits, Americans, Belgians, Dutch (all who lost the right to host the WC) also built their economies based on exploitation of other nations/tribes.
If you study history the Aussies, Brits, Americans, Belgians, Dutch, also meted out barbaric, sadistic, inhuman conditions to build their now robust economies. So if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones
