I would suggest that the simulator is probably spot on for a simple aux drive shaft failure?
I'd say in this case, logic says the simulator is indeed spot on - with this caveat: It assumes the N2 sensor is located
on the gearbox, as was the case for the test cell event I related a few posts back.
However, some FADEC engines have the core speed sensor moved to the innards of the engine, inside the forward sump (bearing box). When this is the case, there is still a coastdown/windmilling N2 signal available - and I'm not sure whether this signal would be conveyed to the cockpit (because the FADEC loses PMG power when the shaft breaks).
Further research is necessary. Over a glass of Thanksgiving wine.
