I have now fitted a 240GB OWC Mercury Extreme SSD drive. The iMac boots up in about 12 seconds and a programme that usually takes a good minute or so comes up in around 18 seconds. No whirring sounds and less heat. Took an hour to fit and set up. I am a happy bunny. Will run my Optical Drive externally - when I need it.
