Thomson have always done the same holiday routes as Palmair ( or very similar ), there was room for both at BOH, but Ryanair seemed to change their game plan this summer and even at BOH there was a limit to the number of Pax wanting to go to Spain & the Canaries, something had to give and it was Palmair.
Which under normal circumstances would have been almost acceptable, if a, it had been on a level playing field and b, they didn't then bail out for the winter.
Only time will tell what RYR's game plan is, but I'm sure all will be revealed come next February !
