Hughes 500 and Mike Hughes.
Heli1 ... we are talking about Mike Hughes, who had a business ... ( Mercedes dealer I think) being the 'Hughes of Beconsfield' business. He may have been the 1960s Mike of 'Mike & Archie' being the later March Helicopters at Sywell, but possibly Mike Smith and Archie McKenzie.
I recall selling the first Hughes 500E model in the UK to Mike Hughes. We statically exhibited the type on our Farnborough stand circa 1980 ish. Mike wouldn't take immediate delivery since he spotted that many parts on the M/R hub were of '500 D status.'
While on Hughes 500s ... who recalls the beautiful 'Plumage' colour scheme? All spectrum colours around the tail and rear boom area.
