Is it FF, or something built into the OS?

If there's one thing I really hate about the file Explorer, it's that. WhereTF has it gone? characteristic. I think it's built into Windows.

With a fair sized 'tree' opened in the left column, it can easily jump more than a page.

I'm sure someone thought they were being helpful in predicting where you might want to be looking, but I just want them to leave it where it was.
