All I will say Number Cruncher, is welcome to the real world. It isn't cosy or nice. If you get a compulsary, at least you will have time to sort out your affairs. I spent 3 months of this year worrying if I was going to get the chop from my present job (I'm ex RAF with 25 years), and if I had, I would get 1 month notice (pay, with no additional redundancy payments). I wish you well in whatever happens, but expect little sympathy, as this happens in the outside to many people. Remember, to the RAF, you are a service number and it doesn't really care what you do or fare when you hand in your ID card.
