I think you will find that these trials at Brize are more to do with aircraft handling than intended to provide a clearance for refuelling. There is a good report on overall progress with the flight test campaign at

in which it is mentioned that the tests are to de-risk later trials with MSN4 next year which will, presumably, be much more about whether the receiver system works and how the crew needs to do it.
