Rolls Royce Tyne Test-Bed Ambassador G-AKRD
I used to see this at Luqa Airport when I was a boy. At the time it was noticeable for its heavy distinctive whine of the Tyne engines. I moved to Malta with my parents in December 1958 - so the trials must have been 1959. I do remember it was there for quite a while. Before we left Malta the Vanguard came into service for BEA. Malta at this time was a plane-spotters paradise.
