This system was demostrated at the last Helitech:
SMART Insight? It was written by ex Shell advisors around the Shell Aviation SMS concept upon which CAP712 and the ICAO SMM were based but with a full safety case capability. It is very good value too I'm told.
I see from their web site:
In the U.K. the Health and Safety Executive has published Pabaic Strategic Objective 2: Safety Management Systems which states that before March 2011 "all employers should demonstrate a continuously improving health and safety management performance when benchmarked using a suitable benchmarking tool." This document also specifies that every employer needs to:
- "Set a clear policy for health and safety"
- "Organise your staff for managing health and safety"
- "Plan for health and safety by setting targets and objectives, identifying hazards, assessing risks and establishing standards against which you can measure your performance"
- "Measure your health and safety performance in the just the same way that you already measure production or sales"
- "Periodically audit and review how well you are doing so that you can decide how to improve"
These requirements apply to any one flying an aircraft into the UK too.
