AirPolice, there is a world of difference between an aircraft on the flight line and one sitting sealed up and 'weather proof'. They would get hot, cold, damp, humid etc etc. An example was the VC10s that were bought in from BA and others. I believe some were in shocking state after being in open storage.
An aircraft in storage needs to be kept in a dry and ideally warm condition; no accident that the US store aircraft in Arizona.
Have you ever left your car in an airport car park for a fortnight in winter?
