I’m also interested in R44 SFH when in New York. However, I’d only want to SFH without a safety pilot (he takes up a seat for no reason). Is there a group that would SFH with check ride, requisite hours & RHC Safety Course?
I’ve found mixed possibilities in other states. I know this is due to most US groups opting for the seemingly cheap Pathfinder insurance with $80k deductible on R44 (not so cheap when viewed in that context). For example, in southern California, I found 9 operators who would give me a R22, but none of them would rent a R44 without safety pilot.
