Dont be deterred by what they apparently said, massive recruitment and expansion going on. I guess you may have missed the boat for oct, then there are fulltimers going through in november, you may get in end of nov/early dec but they like ground schools to be finished by xmas. Even still, its great you got your references checked, hang in there its worth it
