Iberia crew in normal procedures shock...

Sounds like a non-event.

Flight IB6250

Boeing 747 carrying 369 passengers and a crew of 17 (three pilots, a flight engineer and 13 cabin attendants).

Injuries occurred at New York's JFK airport as the passengers slid down emergency chutes to evacuate the aircraft scheduled to fly from New York to Madrid at 18:20 local time.

Immediately following takeoff one of the four engines (engine no. 2) burst into flame. The crew shut down the engine and returned immediately, making a normal landing.

Most passengers and crew were unharmed, but a few people suffered bruises and scratches when evacuating the aircraft by sliding down the emergency chutes. Eight were taken to hospital, and four were immediately released.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but an investigation is now underway. The aircraft had undergone routine inspection procedures prior to the takeoff.
