The main decision when looking at a new software application is whether you want to find one that can work with your existing system or whether you want to start off with totally new system.
Many software companies are able to work with legacy system integration and connects to your existing system. No multiple re-entry is required and the systems communicate with each other.
Some of these are really neat stuff. For example the A&P (your LAME) is able to view maintenance manuals and parts books electronically and place orders. He or she also logs in the time a certain job starts and logs off when it is done and you would know the time spend on certain jobs. Some can get really fancy with hand held devices so the AME can have access to information without leaving the A/C . In fact, they are working on voice recognition technology and speech to voice synthesis so the mechanic (sorry the engineer) could give verbal command for the system to go and get the tech manual, bring it up, and have the section read to them while they have their hands on the job.
Easy Mate. How is the aviation doing down their?? CASA still trying to catch up with rest of the word and making it tough for the smaller operators???
Aviation is a funny career. Every country has its own thing. I leaned that the hard way when I was in Australia. After converting my ATP to CASA ATPL I still had every door shut in my face Also unable to convert my A&P/IA to LAME. CASA wants you to do it all over again and without it the best you can do is compete with apprentices which work for almost free and not to mention no Yankees allowed !! I aint no Yankee but I am a American who tried to give it a go down their for the sake of my wife. Now back in US I have so much work I don't know what to do with. Oh well.
Sorry about the winning. Got some cheese???
